IMG_7773

The first day of the final conference focused on strategic issues about how to make regional forecasts and analyses in order to predict future skills needs and gaps. The East Sweden model “Regional Skills Forum” was showcased which is an arena for education providers and local industry to communicate and discuss future skill’s needs and gaps in the region. The participants also received information about the East Sweden Higher Vocational Training, a post-secondary form of education that combines theoretical and practical studies in close cooperation with employers and industry.

During the three days several local and regional projects addressing youth unemployment were showcased. The municipalities in East Sweden presented projects on various topics such as  preventive actions and follow-up of young people with high absence, guidance and support activities to strengthen young people’s self-esteem, and municipal initiatives targeting newly arrived immigrants and their introduction to the Swedish school system.

Sweden is one of the leading countries on gender equality and the participants had the opportunity to learn more about how to work with gender equality in school. During several sessions and various topics the participants got the chance to meet young people and had the opportunity to discuss their experiences. The participants were introduced to the concept Youth Entrepreneurship presented by three students who had run a real company during upper-secondary school. The last day of the conference the participants were divided into small groups to discuss future project ideas.

What is EmploYouth?

cropped-cropped-cropped-logo.jpg

Dear all,

We think that it’s necessary clarify what is EmploYouth and what are his aims.

The basic idea is to develop an european sense of identity and to give to the participants(citizens, policy makers, ONG)  the possibility to ponder on the theme of youth unemployment, training and inclusion.
The good practices to a local level will be the input to start from, to debate on the solutions to the challenge given from the european contest.
The aim of the project is also to allow  the citizens to build a more interactive, responsible and civilly engaged Europe through the world of associations and other actors of the third sector of the social economy. Many cities and regions had already started finding new innovative solutions to handle the youth unemployment in cooperation with the third sector on topics developed in this poject Employouth.
A specific goal of the action is the activity of “networking”, to contribute to the 2020 strategy to focus on employment, training and exclusion, building a sustainable transnational network between regions and cities. In some cities the youth unemployment has now been a priority but the initiatives started until now are only localized. A transnational network will allow to enrich the project patners with new contacts, to grew the awareness and proposals to handle this difficult situation.
In 24 months 5 transnational events will be created. The basic idea come from the previous project Twinnovate on the innovation like driving force for the local development.
Each partner will envolve exponents from the three sectors to organize workshop and study tour(about 6-8 people for partner).

The themes of 5 events:

– introduction to the efficient models of cooperation for the labour market: March 4-7  2013, Enzkreis, Germany;

– flexible models for formation, orientation: 3-6 June 2013, Daugavpils (Lettonia, Latvia);

– methods which sustain young people at risk (prevention actions): October 14-17 2013, Reggio Emilia;

– social economy-creation of work opportunity and a market for disadvantaged groups:February 2-5 2014, Albacete, Spain;

– final event: June 2-5 2014, Sweden.

Project partners:

East Sweden Region

Reggio Emilia Province (Italy)

Daugavpils Rural Municipal Council (Latvia)
